A magical place shrouded in mist and seemingly as old as time itself, this filming location is even better in real life and is almost guaranteed to be the highlight of your trip to Scotland. Unless, of course, you get the opportunity to experience wild Hogmanay New Years in Edinburgh.

Perfect for visiting all year round, this hidden gem will leave you mesmerized. The Glen Etive Skyfall filming location is incredibly scenic, just off a major tourist route in Glencoe. Yet, barely anyone goes to the Skyfall House location in Scotland as its a dead-end road and not at all sign-posted! This is such a shame as the Skyfall House getting blown up in the Scottish moors scene was literally my whole reason for wanting to travel to Scotland in the first place! The natural scenery at Glen Etive Scotland is just as epic in real life so you will not be disappointed!

The valley where the Skyfall House is supposed to be is actually known as Glen Etive, the turnoff for which is just a few kilometers after the Glencoe Mountain Resort heading towards Fort Williams. However, that surreal vista is almost unmissable, and there is only one bridge along the entire road.

Prior to the events of Skyfall , the Bond family resided at Skyfall Lodge, though James Bond had not visited his ancestral home since his parents' death. Its only resident ever since has been gamekeeper Kincade. After they died, Bond's parents were buried in the chapel on the grounds. The lodge has a hidden tunnel that leads to the estate's bog, which after being crossed leads to a chapel.

It also had an armory as mentioned by , but unfortunately Kincade sold every single gun found in the room to a collector " With the help of Kincade, Bond and M fill the place with booby traps.

The attack by Silva and his men end up destroying the house, but Bond, M and Kincade manage to escape to the chapel, where both Silva and M die Silva being killed by Bond after he threatens M's life, and M succumbing to her bloody wounds.

When Bond caused the Lodge to explode he noted and muttered "I always hated this place. Bond receives the remainder of his personal effects from Skyfall Lodge from Eve Moneypenny delivered to his apartment. Establishing shots of the highlands of Scotland were shot on location in Glencoe.
